When I was young, I would marvel at the artwork in the many graphic novels and mangas I read growing up. I remember staring into the pages for way longer after I had already read the text, studying the illustrators technique, trying to figure out the formula that makes their drawings move across the pages. 

 

It all started with simple three to four panel strips, sketched on lined notebook paper in mechanical pencil. Silly gags became narratives as I pushed my art and writing skills, aspiring to be just like those artists whose stories I read growing up.

 

RED is only the first of many stories I have planned; I chose to draw this particular story first because I have wanted to share it ever since I was in middle school. Throughout the years I've made attempts to draw the story, but I was so focused on making everything perfect  that I never got anything done! It took me some growing to realize that my art with never be perfect, and that should not hold me back from sharing my story.
